The Wroughton Choral Society is a small, friendly mixed-voice choir based in the town of Wroughton on the outskirts of Swindon. We enjoy making music together and sing a range of music from Bach and Haydn to Gershwin and Lloyd Webber.
Everyone is welcome and there are no auditions. Although the ability to read music is an advantage we do hold "note bashing" sessions in most terms, for the less experienced singers in the choir.
We stage two main concerts each year in the town. In the past these have included choral masses and requiems with orchestra and soloists, sacred and secular choral music over four centuries and sometimes a more light hearted mix of modern and traditional songs. We mainly sing 'classical' music and not 'songs from the shows',- although we have performed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Whilst making music is the main reason we meet, we do believe that the social side of the choir is also very important and that music-making should be fun. Our AGM is usually held at a barbeque and we hold regular skittles evenings and other social events.
Listen to two snips from one of our concerts.
